History of the Peruvian Cajón
The Peruvian cajón was born during colonial times when enslaved Africans, banned from playing drums, created rhythms using wooden boxes. It was declared National Cultural Heritage in 2001, and in 2014 the OAS named it “Instrument of Peru for the Americas.”
